Admin reacted to JoseG in Guide - How To Sign Up For Case Status Updates
I've noticed that many people don't seem to know that you have to create an account online to be able to receive Case Status Updates. I think this is because many people believe that by sending in the form G-1145 with their application, they would receive text and e-mail updates. The purpose of the form G-1145 was to notify you of when the Lockbox had received your application. After that, you won't get any further updates on your case.
If you want to receive a notification whenever there is an update to your case, you're going to have to Sign up for it on the USCIS website.
    Let's get started:
    - First, go to this link to create an account,
    https://egov.uscis.g...tercustomer.jsp
    - You will see this form. Fill it out and click Submit. *Make sure to add a phone number if you want to receive text updates.

    - After you have created your account, Sign In using your User ID and Password.

    - After you have logged in, you will have the option to add your Receipt Number to your Portfolio. Click on Add a Case to Your Portfolio *You will be able to add your second Receipt Number on the next page.

    - Enter your Application Receipt Number,

    - Your application will now be added to your Portfolio. Click on Add a Case to Your Portfolio to add your second Receipt Number.

    - After you have added both Receipt Numbers to your portfolio, you will then be able to turn on the notifications. First, click on both of the boxes under Select. Then, click on E-mail Alert On or Mobile Alert On, or both, to turn on the notifications.

    - You will now receive a notification whenever there is an update to your case, like a Request For Evidence, Approval, Denial, Notice To Appear, Name Update or Case Transfer. No more need for constant checking. * Some of you will still be checking your status daily.

Admin reacted to Martha in Approved, Now What?
So like I posted yesterday I got the approval letters for both forms, well now I live with my mom and my husband is still at his moms, I told him to open up the letters and read them since they were mailed over there (2hr drive) and he had told me something about how they (im guessing uscis) need to verify the approval by either txt, email, call or a visit. So I'm confused about that part, if you've been approved how were you "verified"???
Should I be worried since I just moved out ? I'm going to file a change of address today.
Also my third question is what do I do after getting the EAD ? What do i apply for next?
Thank you if u can help me

I have been reading a lot of articles regardin CIR and all that, and at the bottom, there are the comments of our very educated American friends, of course.
So, my question is, where did this idea that "all the stupid Mexicans" get welfare? I mean, no comments here, we all know no one gets welfare here unless they are a citizens of this country. So, where the hell did this even come from in the first place? Who was the genius?
I am just so tired of trying to clear this up for people. And I know it is a wasted effort, because they will believe what they want to believe, and I don't even know why I get into these internet brawls sometimes with such ignorant individuals, but it just bothers me that the media will put out such false allegations about the undocumented people in this country.
    Just saying...

I don't get why they wouldn't let you come back in if they allow you to go on AP. That really is fustrating because that's something a lot of us would like to do is travel to see family and so forth. Maybe when the final arrangements are available, they will let us know if there is a forsure reentry.

there was a time when i wouldve just said they deserved it and i don't care because they did something bad. but ive been trying to be a better person and be more understanding, so lately situations like this just make me feel bad for the "evil" individual. Yes justice should definitely be served and the one who is still alive should answer for his crimes, but at the same time you just have to wonder, why on earth would they do something that would clearly have a negative impact, not only on the victims but on themselves also. we can all say they were extremists and they trying to strike fear into people's hearts, but is that really enough reason to foster the level of chaos they did on Monday and then again on Thursday night? I'm really upset that any of this had to happen at all, but when you think about itm only 3 people died out of the thousands that were attending the Marathon. This could have been A LOT worse. We should all take that into account and be thankful, but also remember those 3 who lost their lives.

When I found out I was in shock but I did not see it as an act of terrorism I just thought of North Korea. I still don't think they did it, they interviewed the older brother in 2011 how come they didn't recognize him when they killed him. All of it sounds fishy maybe it is just another tactic of the government to shut people's mouths another good example of that would be the killing of Osama is there anything physical that proves he got killed? Other than "pictures" and documentaries, I doubt it. In this case there was videos of them and all but none of that leads the FBI to the actual killer(s). Just because they are dressed suspicious doesn't mean anything. Other than abusing somebody's freedom of dressing up weird if anything That is just my input you don't have to agree with me.

I just realize that I didn't answer to the questions that the ADMIN provided.
I didn't feel anything when it happened nor did I think anything of it, i felt bad for the victims, but honestly I felt a whole lot worse when those 20 kids at Newtown were massacred.
What happened in Texas this week with the fertilizer plant explosion is a whole lot worse than what happened in Boston but for some reason this country is obsessed with terrorism and they forgot about Texas.
I really don't want to speculate on what the motive was, I just want to wait for the facts to come out.
...but let me just comment about what took place on Friday. It's ridiculous that they would shut the whole city down for 24 hours and bring in almost every cop, FBI and National guards in the northeast looking for a 19 year old kid who is hungry, thirsty, Injured and loosing blood... that was just over the top and really pathetic, but I'm glad they got him alive.
    Just my opinion!

I'm somewhat controversial when it comes to the topic of terrorism and violence, and I love it.
The biggest terrorist in the world is the United States of America, no question about it!
What happened in Boston is tragic and there's no excuse for it, but let's get real for a moment. What do you say to the one MILLION Iraqis who lost their lives for nothing or the 1.5 MILLION Vietnamese who died in the Vietnam war? And not to mention the infamous Atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki that wiped out 250.000 or more people in an instant and many more suffered lingering effects of the bomb.
The United States have been terrorizing the world for past century, and the number of innocent people this country have killed is mind blowing.
The Boston tragedy is horrible, no innocent life deserve to be taken recklessly regardless of where they live or which god they pray to. Every life is equal in value and no life is more important than the other. No act of violence is excusable and that sure as hell goes for the United States as well.
Terrorism breeds terrorism and violence breeds violence and for as long as this country continues to wage reckless and worthless wars on other nations, people will rebel and the result will not be pretty.
We don't know yet the motives behind the Boston attack but whatever the motive is we should stop the hate and the stereotypes...and for god sake stop the drone war!

I'll preface by saying that any kind of destructive behavior where people are put in danger is not acceptable.
I was working on a job in SF when I saw a bunch of posts on FB about it, I was unsure about the topic so I briefly found a news update about it. I didn't really get affected by it whatsoever since such acts like that are isolated incidents in our country and I'm never in fear of my life. Think of the fear that people must go through everyday in the Israel/Palestine where suicide bombers are prevalent.
As a country we can't let bad apples destroy our forward progress. If it is an act of terror funded by the ilks of terror organizations their objective is to keep the States in a state of fear, disruption, and panic. We can't fall victim to such tactics and we must continue with our lives. Accept what happened, pay respect to those who have perished, honor those who have saved, reevaluate the system, and move forward.
I'm not one to dwell in the past and often will side with an objective point of view.

I just want to say first of all that it is horrible how the older brother died, and they even posted a picture of his dead body on Reddit. I was horrified. No one deserves that, his family doesn't deserve it, he has a child, and she will see that someday, because everyone knows, once it is on the net, it never goes away. I do not know why they did it, how this came about, but it has been reported they both travelled to their home country for 6 months and came back a little different, so, it is speculation what happened in those 6 months. I think they were brainwashed, c'mon, how does a pre med student in America suddenly turn violent and blows up people? It does not make sense. How does a great boxer just wake up one day and plants a bomb in a crowd? It just doesn't add up. I am not saying they didn't do it, or shouldn't feel the full weight of the law fall on them, but it sure as shit doesn't seem like any other terrorist case I've seen. And I say them, because even tho one of them was tragically killed, it does not change what despicable act he allegedly commited.
I just feel apalled by how much my fellow Bostonians are rejoycing over this tragic death. I am happy that they caught the younger brother and that he is alive to answer for what he did, and maybe even help us bring down worse terrorist organizations, who knows? I logged into msnbc this morning and they had pictures of the older brother at the gym, when he was boxing, and some morons were asking to see pictures of him dead, shot in the head, his limp body, how sick is that? These people are acting no better than the ones they call terrorists themselves.
As an individual, I find it shameful to want death to someone else as justice, as a human being, it should be against out nature to wish death upon another fellow human.
I am so sorry for the victimis, people who will never walk normally again, never have a normal life, and the ones who lost their loved ones may never recover. They know exactly what it feels like to be lost, vulnerable, just like the families of the ones who did this.
I guess we will have to wait for the boy to wake up and tell the world what happened, why do this, but no matter what explanation he gives, if he gives ones, the world has already decided his faith, and that is also a tragedy.
Some people get brainwashed into doing things by extremist countries, and religion, and I am definitely not saying that they should be given a pass because they were acting crazy because someone made them do it, no,but the hate that this country has against the Muslims, Arabs and all that they are not familiar with, fuels this war.
This is just an opinion, I am not defending the alleged bombers, I just think that hate spewes hate, and there has been enough death, and it is clear that the attempts to bombard American citizens or citizens of anywhere else has done nothing good too the world. I see no logic in this.
Please, let's stop this as respect for the victimis of hate, bombs, animosity and fear everywhere in the world!

I have created this topic to discuss your feelings and reactions towards the 2 bombers and we all know by now what happened.
What did you think when it happened?
How did you react when it happened?
Why do you think they did it?
These are just some questions to think about when writting your replys. We should to have a good discussion about the bombing and how it affected our lives in one way or another.

Admin reacted to Santi in Boston Bombers Of Chechen Ethnicity - The Impact On Cir
    (Sigh)
Ok - as many of you are probably aware, the authorities identified the two suspects (one of them deceased) which are from Chechen origin.
For those of you wondering where is Chechnya, it is a 'republic' of Russia - by Republic, it should be interpreted as an autonomous region where the majority of the population is of an ethnic minority. In addition, Russia allows them to have another language aside from Russian, and the region is also part of the Commonwealth of Independent States (former soviet republics).
    Here is a map:

Chechnya is the #3 republic according to the map

Chechnya has been infamous due to a separatist, radical Islamist group that want to establish the Caucasus Emirate (which would be comprised of the colored area described in the little picture above - not Georgia) and have strived to do it through violent means. The separatist group (read: Chechen Rebels) have been responsible for attacks in Central Asia and Russia due to tensions that have existed in the region for a long time between Chechens and Russians (since ~18th century).
Why is this important, you ask?
Well, the bombers were immigrants from Chechnya who came to the US and were naturalized. Now you catch the drift.
During the time of significant, comprehensive immigration reform, the authors of the bombing were immigrants. They were not hispanic, latinos, asian, african, etc, but they were immigrants nonetheless.
I just want to see your thoughts on how this might have a negative impact in the debate for immigration reform...
Perhaps it won't stop the reform on its tracks, but it could spark a heated debate, in addition to amendments and changes to the bill.
    Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

Admin got a reaction from sanchez05 in Unauthorized Immigrants May Have To Pay $2,000 To Earn Legal Status
WASHINGTON, April 15 (UPI) -- Unauthorized immigrants may have to pay $2,000 as part of a bipartisan U.S. immigration reform plan, a person familiar with the talks told The New York Times.
The fee, whose amount was not finalized but which would have to be paid before an immigrant could earn legal status, would include $500 when the person applies for a temporary work permit and $1,500 or so that the person would have 10 years to pay, before they apply for a green card, the person said.
A Senate aide described the $2,000 figure to the Times as "significant but not impossible, punitive but not unreasonable."
Democrats and immigration advocates had earlier pushed for a lower amount.
The fees, reported Monday, came a day after Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., dismissed colleagues' fears the immigration overhaul that awards citizenship to people in the United States illegally would amount to amnesty.
"It's not amnesty because you pay serious consequences for having violated the law," the first-term senator and possible 2016 presidential contender told NBC's "Meet the Press."
The measure would boost the number of taxpaying Americans and be a "net positive for the country economically, now and in the future," Rubio told "Fox News Sunday" in one of seven Sunday talk show interviews he did on the five major networks, plus the Spanish-language Telemundo and Univision networks.
The measure -- expected to be unveiled by Rubio and seven other senators of both parties as early as Tuesday -- calls for unauthorized immigrants who arrived in the United States on or before Dec. 31, 2011, to be allowed almost immediately to apply for temporary legal status that would let them live and work in the country.
At the same time, the Department of Homeland Security would be required to monitor the nation's entire southwest border with Mexico -- and catch 90 percent of people trying to cross the border illegally, said Rubio, a member of the so-called Gang of Eight senators.
"We are going to get the toughest enforcement measures in the history of this country," he told ABC's "This Week."
In addition, the senators' plan also requires business owners to use the federal government's free, Web-based E-Verify system that checks new employees' immigration status.
Washington would also have to identify each time a foreigner enters and exits the country, USA Today reported.
If those benchmarks are reached, and after 10 years pass, unauthorized immigrants could apply for a green card, which grants permanent legal status. If approved, they could apply for U.S. citizenship three years later.
"I'm very optimistic about it," Rubio said on the CBS News program "Face the Nation" in a reversal of the caution he expressed about the measure several weeks ago.
The bill is expected to be examined by the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday.
Rubio said lawmakers would have weeks to study the bill, but he also told CNN's "State of the Union" he expected unspecified lawmakers would introduce amendments "designed as poison pills" to doom the measure.
"I'll oppose those if I know that's what they're for," he said.
Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., who appeared on ABC's "This Week" after Rubio, said he was "not convinced" by his colleague's pitch.
"I know Senator Rubio's heart is exactly right," he told the program. "And I really respect the work of the Gang of Eight. But they have produced legislation, it appears ... that will give amnesty now, legalize everyone that's here effectively today, and then there's a promise of enforcement in the future.
"Even if you pass laws today that appear to be effective, it doesn't mean they're going to be enforced," Sessions said.
Rubio said newly legalized immigrants wouldn't receive federal benefits during the 13 or so years it would take them to qualify for full legal citizenship.
"This is an important point. No federal benefits, no food stamps, no welfare, no Obamacare," he said on Fox.
"They have to prove they're gainfully employed," he said. "They have to be able to support themselves, so they'll never become a public charge."
Rubio is a son of Cuban immigrants. Cuban immigrants, through the Cuban Refugee Adjustment Act, can become permanent U.S. residents after a year. Being a public charge doesn't make a Cuban ineligible to become a permanent resident.
