Recommended Posts

Hey guys has anybody travel outside the United States? My brother and I already got approved for advance parole to go to our native country (Mexico). We are schedule to go on March 14, 2014 by plane. I am excited and SCARE at the same time by when I return back to the US. Even though, we hired a lawyer and he did all the paper work for us I still can't help to be scare.

Has anybody been to their native country and gotten back with any issues? Please share with me your experiences. Thank you guys in advance!

Should I keep worrying???

I heard of people who have gone and come back and everything was fine. I am going to apply myself this coming year to go to Brazil to see my sick grandfather. How long did it take you to get an answer???

For those interested in knowing any info about outside travel...I called a lawyer in Boston this week and he told me that anyone can apply, but when comes times to get your green card, if a law comes out, they will use that against you and interview you about why you were out of the country. Even though they the immigration gives you permission to go out with the parole, they will still question you and interview you when time comes. So, the lawyer says it is a chance you are taking, and not to say that you won't be given a green card, but it is still risky.

I know a girl who traveled to two different places with AP already and she said that when she was at the airport on her way back to the US that immigration officers took her to this room where she was asked to show her visa or permit so she handed them the AP permit and they asked her several questions ; about her status, how she got DACA, her reason for traveling etc. and after that they let her go and was able to go back in to the US with no problem. She just said not to get nervous otherwise they will hold you longer.

Hi all!

I personally know two people who were granted Advance Parole and came back with no issues, so I'm confident to travel based on their experiences. But I have a question regarding the names that are show in my Deferred Action. When I applied, I only stated my FIRST NAME, MIDDLE INITIAL AND PATERNAL LAST NAME (both my social security card and driver's license are shown the same way too).

In my foreign passport, I have a FULL NAME, MIDDLE NAME AND PATERNAL AND MATERNAL LAST NAMES. If I were to travel with Advance Parole, do you think this will be an issue when coming back? I know the Advance Parole will have a picture in it, validating that the person in the passport is the same one on the Advance Parole. What do you guys think? Is it too risky? If it is, what can I do to fix it?

P.S: I will be traveling under a humanitarian reason. (Grandmother's renal failure).
