First Wave of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Applications Approved
JoseG replied to JoseG's topic in Dream Act News
Yup. It's better to get this done ASAP before USCIS is pressed into being more thorough and stricter about the whole process. This was said after USCIS released that 29 DACA applicants had been approved in the first month. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., earlier this week questioned the timing of the first wave of approvals. "The speed at which the deferrals are being granted continues to raise severe concerns about fraud and the administration's ability to verify items like age of entry, educational status and even current age," Sessions said -
How to obtain a Social Security Number after DACA Approval

I don't know if there is a fee, but it shouldn't take more than 2 weeks for your card to arrive. The location you go to apply will get your number a few days after you apply. You can go back there and get the number from them if you need it sooner. -
For anyone who already have taken their biometrics test, what should we expect?

Walked in today at the ASC in Riverside, Security asked me if I had an appointment. I didn't tell her anything, I just gave her my Biometrics letter, she looked at it and asked me for ID, I gave her my Matricula Consular. She then gave me a clipboard with a sheet on it and told me to fill it out and wait for my number to be called. There were only about 6 people in there, got done in less than 15 minutes. No problems at all. -
walked in before my appointment date. got done in less than 15 minutes
thats 2 weeks less waiting.

Hey, welcome along. Good luck with your process.

It all comes down the ASC that you will be assigned to for your Biometrics. Some are more lenient than others. As you can see, MillieP couldn't use her Mexican ID (Matricula) which is supposed to be accepted for the Biometrics because it is an ID issued to her by her country, but I've also read others have used their College ID successfully. The best thing would be to try to go to your ASC and see if you can do a walk-in before the date of your appointment to see if they will accept your College ID. I would suggest you take your passport and birth certificate also, just in case. -

Not that I know of. I filled out my sisters application and she's 16. If you are from 16-31 years old, it's all the same. -

Really? The people that have been approved didn't have to do that. Everyone has been going in for one appointment only. This is the first time I've heard of that. -

That might happen with some minors that didn't give a good explanation of why they need an EAD on their I-765WS. -

They need to see that you have the proper documentation, or else they would have told you to just bring in your EAD since it already has your photo and all of your information on it. The reason it says that you may be eligible is because they need to verify your identity on their own first. "We must independently verify the documentation you provide" They won't just go off of your EAD. If they can't verify your identity and age, you won't be eligible. -
Lol. Dumb and dumber.

If you are granted Deferred Action and an EAD, you may be eligible for an SSN. To become eligible, you must bring in your EAD and proof of age and identity when you go to apply for the SSN. -
lol, that's awesome.

I don't see why he wouldn't send your Matricula. In the instructions it says that you can send in an ID from your country to prove your identity, that's what the Matricula is, it is issued by the Mexican Government. It can also be used for the Biometrics. -

USCIS released the official numbers and it was more than 80K for the first month. -

There are few locations that don't let people walk-in no matter what. Luckily my ASC has been accepting Dreamers for walk-ins. Hopefully I can go this Friday. -
Yeah, it's behind a COCO's It looks small. I was thinking it was going to be some big Immigration building.

Cool lol. It's gonna be about an hour long ride huh?

I'm in Cali also, but Southern Cali. I'll be going in to the Riverside ASC for my appointment.

Best of luck. Keep staying strong

I sent a single Money Order for $465. One money order or check is perfectly fine.

If that ASC is rejecting people for trying to us their Matricula, they need to be told that it is an acceptable form of ID for the purposes of the Biometrics appointment. -

You should also call USCIS and ask them if the Matricula Consular is accepted as a form of ID for your Biometrics. If they say yes, tell them that the ASC you went to didn't take your Matricula even though it was valid. It will be interesting to hear what they have to say about that. -
I'm sure it's 3 letters in the beginning.

That sucks. Hopefully they aren't just doing it to give you a hard time. Surely USCIS doesn't expect everyone to get a passport as that can take a long time for some countries to give them out.
