Honestly instead of some of us complaining we should be grateful for this. Some might see this as a slap in the face but now more people can apply for the parents DACA. YALL was complaining about that. Now this. Some people just can't be happy. Like outofmxny said be humble and grateful for this. Just imagine if this was a next president, we wouldn't have ish! . Is not all about green cards. Right now it's all about those work permit! We can work for three years then keep on renewing it. I'm more excited for that, that I can use that to continue work the legal way so my gorgeous daughter shouldnt have to worry about where her diapers, food and etc is coming from. Like everyone else we all miss our families back home. Obama is doing the best he can. It's up to congress to the rest which is giving us greencards by that way we can go home legally and come back to the US legally. BE GRATEFUL AND HUMBLE FOR THIS! COZ IN A BLINK OF AN EYE IT CAN BE TAKEN AWAY!

Obama did whatever can with his limits, technically he didn't have to do anything.
Looking at this a year later and I can say I'm truly grateful for not having to avoid the ssn box and walking around with a foreign passport with no visa.
I'm currently building credit and starting a new business and Its all legal, all within 6 months of being approved.
Now this is expanded for an extra year and also some parents can enjoy this also yet people still complain...smh
Try to remember your life before June 2012.

Where are you from? Jamaican here. I just said the same thing to my mother (Wantee wantee...etc) about the EO.

And I agree with you, Gezinha. DAPA did not cover some deserving individuals. Be it the number of years of continuous residency, DUIs, or the filing fees. There are always going to be "deserving" people who don't get what they truly deserve. It's a sad, but true, fact of life. And without requirements, you have psychos from the right yelling "Amnesty!"

What we have to do at this point, is lobby for a permanent solution and that means trying to get a Democratic House and Senate elected within the next 2 years.

Actually, it's not until age 21 before a USC can petition for a relative. The system has always been about family ties and family unity. Many EWIs are facing a 10 year ban, so it doesn't matter if their children can file for them or not. They would have to go to their home country for their consular appointment, and ultimately cannot return until 10 years later. He's helping those people via the EO, and rightly so.
If you want to make a sensible point, then say something along the lines of the following: "the system should change reflecting both family ties and meeting the needs of our changing economy. That way farm workers, relatives of LPRs/USCs, and the tech industry get a good deal as far as immigration goes."
And I think you seem to neglect the fact that many of the same farm workers you are concerned about have USC children. If I recall, 300,000 or so will be helped via the DAPA program.

I honestly think the OP was expecting too much. I pretty much expected that the EO would only cover certain groups, although I earnestly hoped parents of DACA beneficiaries would be included. The President is a constitutional law professor. At the end of the day, his EO has to be able to help as many as possible, but also be able to stand up to court challenges. While we have certain rights under the Constitution, in the eyes of the public and, ultimately,  courts, USCs and LPRs have more of a right to be here than we do. During the summer, Rep. Gutierrez and others tried to create the new group of DREAMers. And the discussion was always framed around the parents of LPRs and USCs (particularly those who are minors, as they are placed in the foster care system when parents are deported). We should all be grateful we qualified for the initial program and that older DREAMers have now been extended the same opportunity we had.

I'm especially thankful since I'm part of a mixed status family. My little brothers no longer have to worry that they will get news that our mother will be deported (which was a real possibility for us some years ago, when she was caught DWL).

If the required number of years would have been too high, immigrants rights activists would have been coming for him much like they already are, since some of the community seems to think he hasn't done enough with the new EO. I'll play devil's advocate here. 8 years is too low. It should have been 15.

Our family has been here for 25 years and we have approved I-130 and a visa available. But we're dealing with the 10 year ban. We tried to legalize. Using your logic,  I should be upset that he's giving deferred action to people who didn't even attempt to adjust and have been here less time than we have. I am not. In fact, I am ecstatic that he's actually doing something to help the undocumented population. At the end of the day, he could have continued to take the heat, but he didn't. He's putting himself out there, much to his own detriment.  I have seen so many posts on twitter, on this message board, and another where people are busy belly aching instead of being humble and grateful.

I struggled on renewing my DACA as well.  I asked for a loan at the bank a minimal loan with no credit record it was 1000 dlls and actually put that it was to renew my legal status and they granted it to me.  You should try talking to a loan officer and if you have a car just put that as the collateral thingy.  Mine expired a month before I sent it in.  I went to my biometrics apointment 19 days before it expired luckily God is amazing and I got approved 4 days after the fingerprints.  But you should really try a bank.

Sorry for the late reply. I have only lived in 3 places since moving to the U.S., so I am unsure of how people with 4+ addresses would handle that section.

My sister's application arrived at USCIS 118 days before her expiration date. Just try to send it as soon as you have the money. I don't think 1-2 weeks outside of the safe zone will have much of an affect on the timing of the approval.

You don't need to submit any documents with the I-821D application unless,
You have new documents involving removal proceedings or criminal history that you did not already submit to USCIS in a previously approved DACA request.

I carry it around everywhere I go actually. Just because I have the phobia that immigration may stop me at any point. I haven't lost it yet but I completely understand  what you mean. A quick tip if it helps, as soon as you receive your EAD, do an appt for your license. And if you have a stable job and they already have your info yo won't need your EAD. The issue is that everytime you renew it I believe they must take a copy of your last EAD, or at least that's what I have had to show. Good luck.

maybe you should try at a job agency? sometimes you have to call them and check on your status. I used to work at a job agency and if it wasn't for me being on their ass and calling about potential jobs they would've never contacted me. It's hard right now but don't give up! try posting your resume on Craigslist or looking for something on the job ads there, good luck don't lose hope!

Ive seen that most people arent having luck being approved for credit cards, well I applied to CapitolOne.com for their Classic Platinum card thinking I wouldnt get approved but they appoved me within a mater of 1-2 min... $300 limit to start with, and no it isnt one of those cards you have to put your own money into! I called Social Security before I applied because everywhere I applied they could not verify my identity, Social security told me I had to fill out the application the same way as your name appears on ur SS card, (for ex. If your last name is Rodriquez Garcia you put both in the last name box). Good luck hope yall can get approved too!!

God_why_m3 reacted to Admin in Reid Sets July Deadline For Immigration
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) has set an end-of-month deadline for Senate passage of immigration reform, giving the chamber three weeks to debate legislation on the floor.
“We are going to finish the bill before the July 4 recess,” Reid said Thursday. “We need to finish this bill and we’re going to do it as quick as we can.”
Reid added that the issue has already been thoroughly discussed in committee.
“There are very few pieces of legislation that we’ve had come to the floor in recent years that has been [as] thoroughly discussed, debated and presented as this,” he said.
Reid has met with Republicans and told them they have already had weeks to review the legislation during the Judiciary Committee’s markup last month.
“Everybody knows pretty much what this bill is about,” he said. “No one can complain about not having had time to read the bill. They’ve read it, they’ve studied it and there’s no reason we can’t finish this debate quickly.”
The July recess will begin after the last week of June.
Senate Democrats met Thursday afternoon to discuss their strategy for handling amendments to the legislation, President Obama’s top domestic initiative.
The Senate will vote to end debate on the motion to proceed to the immigration bill at 2:15 pm Tuesday and then vote to proceed at 4 p.m.
Members of the Senate Gang of Eight, which drafted the bill, have set a goal of passing it with 70 votes, but Reid is more focused on clearing the 60-vote threshold needed to overcome a filibuster.
Reid downplayed speculation that Democrats must accept an amendment by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) strengthening border security in order to push the bill to final passage. Rubio is a member of the Gang of Eight.
“We are interested in getting as many votes as we can and getting as many votes as we can does not depend on any one amendment,” he said. “I am totally convinced that there is tremendous momentum to get this legislation passed no matter what people are saying on the record, off the record.”
Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.), the lead Democratic sponsor of the bill, said “the momentum is getting stronger every day,” citing the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, agribusinesses, evangelicals and the high-tech community.
He said those groups are contacting undecided senators to urge them to support the bill.
Schumer said Democrats are willing to strengthen the border-security provisions but do not want to give anti-immigration opponents a chance to block the path to citizenship for an estimated 11 million immigrants in the country illegally.
